Napier Labour MP The Labour Party announced its party list of 74 candidates yesterday morning, with Napier Labour MP Stuart Nash placed 10th in the ranking.
Mr Nash, who is also the Labour spokesman for police, forestry, and economic development, said the announcement made no difference to the work he had to do for his electorate.
“It doesn’t change the way I campaign or the way I represent the people of Napier.
“My absolute focus is on holding the seat and continuing to have a mandate to represent the electorate.”
He said he loved being MP for Napier and could not imagine being in politics if that was not the case.
In 2014, Mr Nash did not seek a list position, after time as a list MP from 2008 to 2011.
When the party did not do so well in 2011, despite a lot of hard work locally, he said the aim for 2014 was to win the electorate.
